OUR TEACHINGS

What We Believe

Dr. Ernest Holmes’ Declarations of Principles

We believe in God, the Living Spirit Almighty; one, indestructible, absolute, and self-existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.

We believe in the incarnation of the spirit in everyone and that all people are incarnations of the One Spirit.

We believe in the eternality, the immortality, and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding.

We believe that Heaven is within us and that we experience it to the degree that we become conscious of it.

We believe that the ultimate goal of life is to be a complete emancipation from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.

We believe in the unity of all life, and that the highest God and the innermost God is one God.

We believe that God is personal to all who feel this indwelling Presence.

We believe in the direct revelation of Truth through the intuitive and spiritual nature of the individual, and that any person who lives in close contact with this Indwelling God may become a revealer of Truth.

We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through Universal Mind, which is the Law of God, and that we are surrounded by this creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.

We believe in the healing of the sick through the power of this Mind.

We believe in the control of conditions through the power of this Mind.

We believe in the eternal Goodness, the eternal Loving-Kindness, and the eternal Givingness of Life to all.

We believe in our own soul, our own spirit, and our own destiny; for we understand that the life of all is God.

What We Teach

We teach and provide tools that empower living the life of your dreams and actively contributing to make the world a better place. We strive for transformation at every level.

We teach that we co-create our life and that we are free to choose. Making conscious choices, in alignment with the Truest Self, is the greatest gift we receive in and give to Life.

We teach that we can understand and use Universal Laws and Principles, primarily the Law of Cause and Effect. We understand our experience is the consequences of the thoughts and beliefs that we live by. These consequences are not reward or punishments, but a natural result of what we choose to think and do. When we realign our minds and act intentionally, life changes for the better.

We honor all paths to God and recognize that they ultimately lead to the same destination: discovering the Divine, especially within ourselves. All faiths and religious traditions share deep values, and each adds something to the evolution of human spirituality.

We acknowledge all the great spiritual teachers and draw from sacred texts, scientific discoveries and philosophical exploration. Foundationally, though not exclusively, our primary source is the Science of Mind, written by Dr. Ernest Holmes.

The Science of Mind is a correlation of the revelations of religion, the opinions of philosophy, and the laws of science as applied to human needs and the aspiration of humankind.

Our Recent History

In September 2014, Rev. Sharon released her formal relationship with the Oakland CSL, following the urging of her inner guidance developed through Visioning and prayer.

In this space of openness, synchronicity and Divine Right Action, Rev. Sharon and Rev. Patricia, the Interim Minister of the Sacramento Center for Spiritual Growth (SCSG), were brought together at the Launching Pad, a Young Adult Community in Berkeley.

Rev. Sharon was invited to be a guest speaker and, from there her relationship with this community blossomed. Sharon was unanimously selected to be Senior Minister at the 2015 Annual Meeting.

Rev. Sharon led SCSG through the Affiliation Process with CSL and we officially became the Sacramento Center for Spiritual Living (SCSL) in August 2015. We enthusiastically celebrated Rev. Sharon’s Installation and Ordination in Jan 2016.

In June 2018, we moved from meeting at the Chautaqua Theater in Carmichael to our current space on Main Street in Orangevale, giving us classroom space, a social area and space for a youth program.  We knew we had found the perfect place when we discovered that the building had housed a SOM Center in the 1970s and the 1980s.

In March of 2020, due to the pandemic, we started broadcasting our Sunday Service via Zoom. Please join us every Sunday at 10:30am (Pacific) by entering the following Zoom ID: 240-876-0092, or simply by just clicking HERE.
